Bonuses: the ingredient lists are short (no counter full of ingredients during prep)., ingredients can be found at any local supermarket (no traipsing to specialty markets)., meals are healthy, and the meals are fast to prep and fast to cook. Wow, a recipe book that really does only cook enough for two people. I'm shocked and amazed because I was beginning to think it was impossible to avoid having leftovers when just cooking dinner for my husband and myself. And most importantly, most of recipes we've tried have been definite keepers. I raved so much that my mom bought the book and now she raves back at me.
The sweet potato fries are a new favorite of mine, and last night i even declared that they could be eaten every night. From the very first recipe I tried in this cookbook (pork tenderloin with mango-ginger sauce) i have absolutely loved everything. It also answers your questions without you having to search around for answers - as you read the recipe, you might think to yourself "wait, what does that mean." only to find the very answer you're looking for at the bottom of the page. Nothing I've cooked yet has had any of the "normally bland" flavors that some healthy cookbooks serve up. The titles alone make you want to cook each dish. I love that it breaks down the nutrition information per serving, if you're trying hard to be health concious, this makes it much easier. I have and will continue to recommend this cookbook to freinds and family, I LOVE IT.
I have made several recipes out of this book. Most take less than half an hour to prepare and they have all turned out quite well - I've received several compliments on meals that I've cooked from this book. Truly recipes for two, and it gives great tips on what to do with the inevitable 'leftover' ingredients you have when cooking for two. I did make some tweaks to accommodate personal preferences but they are great as is also.
Recipes were too fancy for me. I like very plan and easy recipes. This is more for people looking for gourmet recipes.
The Mrs. I recently purchased this cookbook and have already tried several of the recipes. and I are trying to cut back on our portions and eat healthier and this book is helping us to achieve those goals. I have been amazed by each one-- they are incredibly simple, and generally rely on ingredients that most well-stocked kitchens have on hand. The portions are perfect, and the sections on how to shop for two as well as the how-to section in the back are very helpful. You will not be disappointed if you buy this book. Bon appetite.
